Mike Meynell began his career as an apprentice electrical fitter with ICI.

Whist working there he met Bob Carroll, who had also started as an apprentice with a different company.

In 1970 they left ICI and founded Carroll & Meynell, working originally from Bob’s house and then eventually moving to Portrack in Stockton on Tees, where their main focus was contracting, with transformer manufacturing as a secondary activity.

When the company transferred to its current site in Eaglescliffe in 2000, we quadrupled our floor space to 30,000 sq ft, allowing us to extend the scope and size of our production capacity.

We continue to broaden our range and size in line with our research, design and development activities.
